On Jan. 10, 2012 the Tucson Unified School District board voted to end Mexican-American Studies classes that were challenged by the state for encouraging racial separatism, among other allegations, in violation of H.B. 2281. Failure to cease teaching the courses would have cost TUSD up to $15M in withheld state funding.
